This classic Chocolate Pecan Pie is a delicious rich pie filled with pecans. This is a perfect dessert for the holidays, or just for fun!
I remember the first time I made this Chocolate Pecan Pie. It was on December 23rd, in our third year of marriage. I was still trying to hone my cooking skills so impressing my husband was my ultimate goal. He loves pecans and swears he doesn’t like chocolate… I was on a mission to prove to him that somewhere inside his foodie heart there was a love of chocolate!
Well…. let me tell you he ate the whole pie! Okay, I nibbled off it too… but truly – the pie was gone that night. I had to make another for Christmas Eve to take to my Dad. He still says he doesn’t like chocolate, but this is one of the MANY desserts that are made of chocolate that he eats, no, devours, and loves.
Enjoy! XOXO San
How do you make Chocolate Pecan Pie?
-
Mix together flour and salt. Cut shortening into flour until it resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in egg. Slowly pour in water while mixing until the dough sticks together. Place in fridge for an hour, then roll out into a 12-inch disk. Spread in pie pan. You can also use a premade pie crust to make this easier.
-
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
-
Heat butter and chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly until chocolate is melted; cool slightly.
-
With a hand beater, beat eggs, sugar, salt, chocolate mixture, and corn syrup. Stir in pecans and pour mixture into pie shell.
-
Bake until set, 40 to 50 minutes. Cool slightly. Serve warm, or refrigerate and serve with nondairy whipped topping.
My favorite kitchen tools used to make Chocolate Pecan Pie:
This post may contain affiliate links. See my Full Disclosure for further details.
MIXING BOWLS: I love having a variety of sizes of mixing bowls. From small to large, I find that having at least 3 bowls of different sizes has been essential in my kitchen. I prefer Pyrex because of the durability.
MEASURING CUPS: Nothing beats a good set of measuring cups that last a long time. I love metal measuring cups because of their durability.
MEASURING SPOONS: I have to have a metal set of measuring spoons on hand. The plastic ones just don’t last long in our house thanks in large part to the garbage disposal.
PIE PAN: This is a perfect size pie pan for this recipe and for my quiche recipes.
