I am so excited to share this Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Recipe with you all! This recipe is super easy and only requires a few ingredients that you likely already have in your pantry. And clean-up is a breeze since everything is cooked in the slow cooker.
Slow cooker recipes are one of my favorite things to cook during the week – they’ve saved me a lot of time! This shredded BBQ chicken is fantastic because it’s a mix-and-go dish; you don’t have to brown the meat first. All you have to do is put everything in the slow cooker, and you’re ready to go.
What to serve with barbecue chicken
Ingredients
- Boneless-skinless Chicken Breasts
- Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce
- Brown Sugar
- Red Pepper Flakes
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Peach Preserves
How do you make Slow Cooker Barbecue Chicken?
Add the Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce to the crockpot. Add 1/4 cup of water to the bottle of the BBQ sauce and return the lid, shake the bottle, and then pour the remaining sauce and water mixture into the crock pot. This makes sure you get all of the sauce out of the jar!
Next, add the peach preserves to the sauce and mix.
Add the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and red pepper flakes to the slow cooker and mix.
Add the chicken to the sauce in the slow cooker and turn it over so the chicken breasts are coated.
Cook on high for 4 to 5 hours or until the chicken falls apart and tender.
Shred the chicken using two forks and pull it apart. Or better yet, add the chicken to your mixer and turn the mixer on low using the paddle attachment and shred easily this way. Less mess, too!
Serve with bread, over rice, on top of a salad or rolled up in a tortilla, There are so many things to do with this fantastic BBQ chicken recipe.
Can you use chicken thighs?
You can use chicken thighs; in fact, my husband prefers them over chicken breasts. Just be sure you use the same amount of boneless, skinless chicken thighs for this recipe, which would be 4 lbs.
How long does pulled BBQ chicken keep?
Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for three to four days. You can also freeze it for several months!
