Bacon Hot Fudge Sauce a sweet and salty chocolaty treat. Perfect drizzled over ice cream, pancakes, bananas or drinking it straight from the jar.
My favorite shirt from my closet says, “PIGS the inventors of bacon”. And every time I wear it I get a ton of compliments. It honestly is my favorite shirt of all time! Maybe because well it is about bacon or because I got it from my friends over at the Pork Checkoff #realpigfarming. I went on a trip to Iowa and toured Brenneman family farm, a fully integrated swine and grain operation. The sweetest people I have meet. And I went with some of my blogging besties.
This month is National Bacon month and I just love bacon, so I am trying to share a few new recipes with you of course including bacon. Today’s is this Bacon Hot Fudge Sauce. And I thought I might not completely love this, but after making my Bacon Caramel Sauce, I change of mind.
My mom tried this and thought it would be perfect over pancakes and she was right….oh, so good! But of course, you can’t go wrong with vanilla ice cream either. So whether you want to have this for breakfast or dessert, it works because well bacon and chocolate you can have anytime of the day.
Enjoy friends and happy bacon month! XOXO San
- 5 slices of bacon
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- ¼ cup butter
- ¼ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
In a small mixing bowl stir together brown sugar and cocoa powder, set aside.
Cut up raw bacon slices into small pieces, I use my kitchen scissors for this. Remember to immediately wash them after use.
Heat a medium skillet of medium-high heat.
Once the skillet it hot add bacon pieces. Cook until crispy.
Remove bacon from skillet and drain grease.
Using the same skillet but over medium heat, add butter and milk, bring to a slow boil, and let it bubble for 3-5 minutes. Stirring occasionally. Add cocoa and brown sugar mixture, stirring constantly and cook for 2-3 minutes and sauce is smooth.
Immediately remove from heat and stir in vanilla and bacon crumbles. Set aside to cool, to room temp. The sauce during this time will thicken.
Serve and enjoy!
