Whether you’re grilling, baking, frying this All-Purpose Chicken Seasoning made with a variety of spices adds the perfect amount of flavor.

While Carrabba’s Grill Seasoning is my favorite for steak, this is the best for chicken. It is so easy to make, it takes literally 5 minutes. Make a large batch and keep it on hand. Enjoy this Chicken Seasoning from our spice cupboard to yours.

I love seasonings. But I hadn’t found one that was more all-purpose. I grew up on this being very seasoned. My dad has his to-go-to favorite – Lawry’s seasoning salt. The first time my husband went to grill he just threw a whole bunch of seasonings together and I was like “wait, you aren’t using Lawry’s???” He laughed.

Now he loves Lawry’s but we like to change it up and since I have such distinct memories of that seasoning, I don’t see it as all-purpose. So while I was on the search for the best all-purpose seasoning I decided to make my own. After some trial and error, this All-Purpose Chicken Seasoning was the winner.

It proved itself this past week for dinner. When I grilled up chicken for our salad, 5 chicken breast for 6 of us (me and the 5 kiddos) and it was devoured. Best chicken ever exclaimed Madden. Wow, that is a big comment coming from my most picky eater.

Can’t wait for you to try our favorite summer grill base. Try it out and let me know how you best like it served. Enjoy! XOXO San

  1. We grill a lot of chicken, especially during the summer. This will be a great way to keep the flavors fresh and new.

  2. I love making homemade seasoning blends at home–so much cheaper and truly enhances meals. This chicken blend is going on my must make list.

  3. Wayyyyy too much salt for my family’s taste. We had to cut it back to like 1/4 teaspoon along with the pepper.

    1. The salt can definitely adjusted to your, but this amount is for a larger batch, not one serving. You can use as much or as little on the chicken depending on how you like it. Thanks for giving it a try!

The first time I tried this recipe, I agreed with Laura, but after a second time, when I used coarse sea salt it was much much better! Three tablespoons of kosher salt made be gag but I love your choices of flavour combinations. My family loved finished spiced chicken dish!

  4. I came across this seasoning and thought I’d give it a try. Its not terrible, but i would definitely use less- like half- the salt and season the chicken sparingly.

  5. The BEST chicken seasoning!!! I found this a while ago, lost it, franticly tried to find it, tried a bunch of “meh” recipes, then finally found it again tonight!! I’m making up a big jar to coat all of my chicken – making it into chicken salad is one of my favorite ways to use this seasoning. Thank you Sandra!!

    1. I find chicken needs salt! You can definitely adjust to your preferences, and use as much or as little as you’d like on your chicken.

Have made it a few times. First time with no modifications but was way to salty — and I really like salt. Figured it was because I also brined in salt so second time I skipped salt entirely. It was okay but not salty enough for me. Made it again tonight but half the salt. It was okay for me but the coarse salt is too much for my husband. Pepper has always been a bit much and I have consistently used less than half of the pepper. Next time I will use a third of the salt but use table salt and a half teaspoon of pepper. The rest of the ingredients are spot on.

    1. The amount of salt can definitely be adjusted to your preference! Salt is definitely a hard thing to get right to please everyone. I’m glad you got it figured out and enjoy it! Thanks for sharing.

I love this seasoning and need to whip together a double batch of this for my meal prepping!

    1. Sorry to hear that you think that! It is a salt-based seasoning that you can use at your discretion, but you can definitely cut down the ratio of salt and spices if you prefer! I hope you give it another try with that in mind!

Love this mix. I just made it for the second time . It’s great on air fried chicken, both with skin and without. Will be a staple in my pantry!

I liked it! I adjusted some measurements to personal taste (more garlic!), but it was a good combination of spices.
Used it to pan-fry some chicken thighs, added onions, white wine and a touch of honey and it was delicious.
    Thank you for this recipe.
