Friends, you’re only ten minutes from peanut butter-caramel euphoria. Ten minutes is all is takes to make this Peanut Butter Caramel Sauce!
This recipe was inspired by a tart recipe that I wanted to make that included peanut butter. And when I made the tart using plain ole’ peanut butter it didn’t have the right consistency. I knew I needed it to be a caramel sauce. So I tried this recipe from Epicurious. But honestly for me it was too complicated. I kept skipping the first step and was combining all of the ingredients when you weren’t supposed to. So after two failed attempts, I thought I would just take my White Chocolate Caramel Sauce recipe, one of my favorite sauces EVER! And adapt that recipe for peanut butter instead of white chocolate and it worked. So thankful, because the recipe is so easy. Literally 10 minutes and then this caramel sauce is ready to be eaten, no actually it is ready to be devoured.
The caramel should come with a warning though, the first batch I made, well let’s just put it this way…I had to make a second batch because the first batch didn’t survive. And by survive I mean, I may or may not have eaten a majority of it with the pretzels sitting on the counter (hence the picture below).
Caramel and peanut butter were meant to be together. Honestly, after this recipe I am not sure my Peanut Butter Fudge Sauce stands a chance and that is saying a lot. And my kids may beg to differ.
If you have 10 minutes and love peanut butter or caramel, this recipe is a must try. Just remember what I said and make sure to have enough ingredients to make another batch just in case you eat the whole first batch.
- ¼ cup butter, ½ stick
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons white granulated sugar
- ½ cup heavy cream
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1/3 cup creamy peanut butter
Add all of the ingredients, except for the peanut butter in a medium sauce pan, heat over medium-low heat. Let it cook, while constantly whisking for about 4 minutes. Stir in peanut butter and cook while constantly whisking for another 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat, stir and serve. This caramel sauce you can serve immediately, my preference or let it cool, and refrigerate for later.
