Anyone who knows me, knows I am addicted to Starbucks. And it isn’t just because they have the best caramel sauce, ever! Although that plays a big part of it. But I love a good warm drink that someone else makes for me. I do. And I even branch out occasionally and will buy a pastry, sandwich or cake pop.
Today I am sharing one of my afternoon cravings their Double Chocolate Brownie recipe. If you love chocolate, chocolate or chocolate, you are bound to love this recipe. This recipe is better. Just based on the fact it is freshly made from your kitchen, no dried out brownies here. Oh, no save that for the fool who just sent, $3 for one.

These Copycat Starbucks Double Chocolate Brownies make a great afternoon snack, late night dessert or as a gift for a friend. Simply put this is one of the best coffee cake recipes I have yet to make.
So friends grab a cup of Joe or whip up a steamer, either way take the time to enjoy one of these Copycat Starbucks Double Chocolate Brownies. You’ll be happy you did.

Copycat Starbucks Double Chocolate Brownies

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 45 minutes

Copycat Starbucks Double Chocolate Brownies


  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 1 ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt, don’t add if you used salted butter
  • 2 3.5 oz Ghirardelli Intense Dark 72% Cacao, Twilight Delight bar


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly spray a 9x13 baking pan then line with parchment paper, spraying it first helps the parchment paper to stick.

In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer beat together the butter, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla.

Once the mixtures has combined add the eggs in one at a time, beating in between each addition.

In a small mixing bowl sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.

Slowly mix in the dry ingredients to the butter mixture.

Coarsely chop 1 of the chocolate bars into chunks. Then with a wooden spoon or spatula mix in the one (1) bar of chocolate that is chopped or 1 cup of the chocolate chips.

Note: The brownie batter is thick, remember this isn’t a boxed recipe. Trust me it will turn out great.

Spread the batter into the 9x13 prepared pan.

Coarsely chop 1 the reamining chocolate bars into chunks, sprinkle over the brownie batter in the pan and gently press into the batter.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, until brownies begin to pull away from the side of the pan.

    I see S’Bucks uses creme in their recipe. What purpose does that serve do you know? Curious. And thanks for the copycat. It’s delicious.

    I used Ritter Sport dark chocolate. The price is reasonable and the taste the same as Gh. I have done considerable testing (cough).

      I think that the creme is thicker – offering a richer texture and maybe more moist? Hmm…thinking I will have to try that now. xo San
