Since the beginning of summer, the start of the farmer’s market and the cheaper prices on produce we have been on a smoothie kick. Trying out a variety of flavors picking our favorites to repeat throughout the week.
A breakfast smoothie is perfect for the kids, right before swim team, swim lessons, dance, baseball or any other activity we have in the morning.
We are blueberry fans so I knew this one would go over well.
The first day of embarking on this smoothie journey, my kids cried, moaned, pouted and whined more than I have ever heard. I was an evil mother trying to make them healthy. I guess if having them drink their veggies with their favorite fruit, then yes, I am the Maleficent of breakfast.
There are two that they totally loved! And shockingly they both include kale, the most disgusting vegetable of all (according to my kids).
I love this shake, light, refreshing and full of vitamins, a great way to start any day.
XOXO San & kids
Light, refreshing, and full of natural vitamins. This Blueberry Kale Breakfast Smoothie is mom made, kid approved.
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup fresh blueberries
- ¾ cup kale
- ½ banana, or whole banana
- 3 tablespoons Greek yogurt, we use strawberry honey or honey
- ½ cup crushed ice, optional (we don’t do this)
Add milk, blueberries, kale, banana and Greek yogurt and crushed ice to a blender; blend at high speed.
Pour into a tall glass. Drink up and enjoy! This makes one serving for an adult, two servings for small kiddos.
