Orange Sugar Cookie with Orange Creamsicle Frosting

After my mom mentioned a few times that she thought my key lime cookies were amazing! And how much everyone loved them. She asked if I thought of making an orange sugar cookies, since orange anything is her absolute favorite, maybe even over chocolate. I had already had this planned, but then yesterday at our family Easter she asked again. As any daughter knows, if your mom hints about something more than once, you move it up on the priority list.

So here is my version of an Orange Sugar Cookie with an Orange Creamsicle Frosting just for my mamma!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Lightly grease 2 cookie sheets.

Cream together sugar, orange and lemon zest, orange juice and butter. Beat in egg yolks and orange extract.

Form dough into walnut size balls and place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Don't flatten. Bake 10-12 minutes, until tops are cracked and just turning color.

That is funny! My favorite biscuit recipe has cream of tartar and almost all my sugar cookie recipes. So I use to often, but didn’t until I became a baker! xo San

I’m such a sucker for those frosted sugar cookies you can get at the store in packs of like 10 to 12 but they make me so sick! I think these would be a perfect alternative if I nipped and tucked the recipe to make them gluten free xD

You just made me a very happy lady!

I love anything that tastes like orange creamsicle! I don’t think I’ve noticed orange extract in stores before. It’s it hard to find? Or can I make it myself?

    • Sandra says

No it is right next to the lemon usually – I have never made my own. But if you do, send me the recipe! xo San
